Cycles question

Cycles is a pretty deep application. How much of the program will be accessible in V6? Will it have the Cycles nodes system for instance? And will materials created in Blender Cycles work in Rhino Cycles?

The answer to all of these questions is basically “no”. We are only using the Cycles engine for a real-time raytraced display.

… that said I work on some tools that may help with these things In The Future. For now it is all about making it as easy as possible for anyone to do good rendering - with as few knobs, bells and whistles to control. All that right in your viewport.

That’s too bad. I understand the ambition to create a simple, easy to use renderer but it does seem that being able to use materials created in another iteration of Cycles (like Blender) would be helpful to many users.

I am sure interoperability will be there at some point. I have some experimental code for that lying around - it just isn’t the priority at this moment.
