Custom viewstyle fails to render in layout on latest Service Release

Well… me again.

I’ve spent some time figuring out how to create a custom ViewStyle with hard shadows (but in a light gray tone). I made a copy of Arctic and tweaked a few parameters, one of which was the gamma output to get the soft gray look I needed.

I was satisfied as it was ok for my needs.. everything was working fine, until I updated Rhino today.

Now the problem is that this ViewStyle is not rendering correctly inside a detail view (it was working before the Rhino update).

Since I’ve also been chasing a few other Rhino bugs today, I’m not sure whether I changed something accidentally or if this is related to the update.

Any help would be highly appreciated. (Also, if possible, a link to download a previous service release.)

Im also having the same issue in:
Version 8 SR29
(8.29.26063.11001, 2026-03-04)

I only have the local installers until 8.29, so i cant backtrack and test in which release the function broke.

FYI, i managed to downgrade to SR27, and the problem went away. So, somewhere between SR27 and SR29 the glitch happened.

thank you Jonas.

My workaround was to setup differently my viewstyle.. messign up less with the gamma values.. and just using a gray ambient color. While this may work for exactly this need of the gray shadows.. I amm not sure of what would happen with other custom viewstyles where saturation or brightness or any other value was custom setup… Thank you for the advice of downgrading to SR27.
