I’ve never come across this before, I have created a few custom textures, applied to some small objects, when I move the objects the textures are moving ? Its like the texture is not attached to the surface I applied it too ? Running V8, latest release, system info & screenshot attached. Also link to access the file. tia

Hi @milezee
Your textures are set to WCS/OCS mapping, meaning that they will “follow” the World Coordinate System, and thus appear stationary when the object is moved. This is mainly for textures like bricks, pavements etc. Change it to Mapping channel, reset the offset of the base color texture and apply box mapping to the object instead.

Hi @milezee ,
Just a thought… a workflow that may help here would be to drag and drop the color texture into a Rhino viewport to create a Picture surface and material from it. The advantage being that you will get the right width and height aspect ratio no matter the size of the surface dragged out. Then, because Picture materials are special, change it’s type to a Physically Based material and add any other texture maps needed in the appropriate channels. Your mapping method for the textures will all be by surface by default with this method and you’ll be assured of the aspect ratio.
thanks Jacob, I never thought thought to check the mapping
hi Brian, yes I’ll give that a try, thanks for the suggestion, cheers
