Custom tab has disappeared

My custom tab has disappeared. It is called “JOSEMI” and I can’t find it. I have an .ini file with my configuration but when I load it I don’t see the tab either. when exporting configuration are these tabs not exported?

before

now:

Hi Jose - in V7, if you make changes to the toolbar layout, it’s best to SaveAs the default RUI file to a different name -

if you have done that, I would make sure that the file you saved is the one that is open.

You might also look in

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\UI

for the backup file - rename this with just an .rui extension and open that to see of it has your tab.

Thank you Pascal! and a the last question, this file can be exported also to Rhino for mac?

And what is the difference between “save as” and “export groups” ?

Hi Jose - V7 Mac does not handle toolbars the same way as Windows, so no it will not work on Mac as far as I know - in V8 they are the same and you can share toolbars.
Exporting groups lets you choose from the existing toolbar groups to export as its own RUI file rather than save the entire thing. SaveAs saves the whole file to the new name and location.

Thanks!
when will rhino 8 be released? is it possible to test a beta version?
On my my mac with chip M1 V7 is very slow!! do you know if V8 is also fast as in win?

Hi José -

We plan on releasing later this year but their are no fixed dates and things can change if we feel that the product isn’t ready.

You need to have purchased a license of the current version to be able to test the WIP of the next version.

Rhino 8 for Mac is optimized for running on Apple Silicon and there are reports that, in some areas, it runs faster than on Windows machines with comparable specs.

Thank you Wim, yes, I have a license of V7. Is there any way to make it work faster? Will future updates of Rhino 7 be compatible with M1?

Hi José -

Nothing other than the usual “scene management” by showing only objects that you are working on, meshing reference geometry into a single mesh object, …

Rhino 7 is compatible but not optimized for Apple Silicon. Apart from major crash bugs, development of Rhino 7 has stopped quite some time ago, so, no, Rhino 7 will not be changed to work better on Apple Silicon.
