Curves Crash Model

Hello,

I have been trying to make a simple curve (as in curved lines rather than straight lines) the model has been freezing or crashing with this simple shape.
Usually the crash happens after I start panning around or zooming in on the curve. First the curve will appear to invert and project infinitely in the opposite direction its drawn from its end and then the computer will freeze and I have to reboot.

I would love to copy/paste the help—> system info but the computer is frozen too badly usually.

I am using Bootcamp Windows 10 and have all display drivers and apple/windows software updated.

Anyone have an idea what it could be?

Thanks!
-Andy

Hi Andy - can you please run the command SystemInfo in Rhino and paste the results here?

-Pascal

I drew a quick curve and took the system info without moving the camera.
If I even do so much as click and drag my computer crashes.

Hello - I’d look for the latest driver for this display chip and install that and take it from there.

-Pascal

Updated, still isn’t working. Screenshot of error attached. See front view. Usually the last thing I see before a crash.

Hello - is there a crash report UI that pops up when Rhino goes down? If so, please send that information in, it will help us track down the cause. I don’t know that this is a display driver problem but it seems at least possible.
@jeff - any thoughts?

-Pascal

Nope, computer becomes completely frozen to the point I have to reboot.

Here is one thing to try - I don’t have a lot of hope but: open Rhino, open Options > View >Open GL and uncheck the setting for ‘GPU Tessellation’ . Does that do anything good?

-Pascal

I’m cautiously optimistic but it’s been working so far!!

Hi Andy - OK, good deal - shout if it goes south again.
