Cursor location display doesn't track mouse movement

With the previous and current V8 and WIP versions when I zoom a viewport to where the entire width encompasses a 0.25 - 0.50 distance and try to position the cursor to the nearest 1000th of an inch the location coordinate display doesn’t follow the mouse movement even though the cursor location does. The coordinate display seems to jump around in strange increments which seem to be loosely related to the mouse speed. I can’t say what version this started with, but it wasn’t more than a month or two since it was working OK. I did do a windows 11 update December 31 and February 12.

Anyone else see this or have any thoughts?

I’ve attached a short video showing it with a new unedited inch document and systeminfo for 8 & WIP.

Oops. Since I wrote that on my mac discord gave me a free Mac label that I didn’t catch. I am only seeing this on my Windows machine.

Hi AIW, Windows “Enhance Pointer Precision” (mouse acceleration) The December 31 and February 12 Windows 11 updates have been known to reset mouse settings. Check Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse → Additional mouse settings → Pointer Options and make sure “Enhance pointer precision” is unchecked.

I haven’t seen other reports like this, but per you description this could be the issue.

“Enhance Pointer Precision” was indeed ON. I set it to OFF. No joy, still jumps around.

I have been playing around with this some more. My computer has 2 mice attached: a USB connection and a Bluetooth wireless. They both display the same issue. I went further back in time and tried out Rhino 7. It works like it should, again on a freshly new inch document.

I think this must be a bug in R8 and WIP. No luck reproducing this behavior?? How about some of the other folks? @wim ?

Yesterday I updated Rhino 8 to .29.26054.15001 and WIP to .9.0.26055.12305 and checked again. The behavior still exists in both. To reiterate: the cursor in the viewport appears to follow the mouse movement smoothly, so I don’t think it’s a mouse driver or Win 11 issue. However the numeric value in the cursor position tracking display boxes jumps erratically in random increments of a few to tens of thousandths. This leads me to believe that the value display code is not updating fast enough to keep up with the mouse.

I am pretty sure that this wasn’t a problem as recently as 6 months ago but I can’t say when it changed. Only that I just noticed it after a period of not using Rhino this way for several months.

I zoom the viewport to be about 0.100 inch across horizontally (ie: approx. 0.000 to 0.100) and test by primarily moving slowly along x in world coordinates.

@Japhy, @dale, @wim, @Helvetosaur I haven’t received any replies except Japhy’s. I would be grateful if you could check this out and let me know whether you see it too and if not any thoughts you might have on what I am seeing.

Thanks very much.

I looked again at the video I attached and noticed the cursor movement appears jerky. That’s me moving the mouse. I guess I should have said the cursor follows my input faithfully.
