Ctrl+V needs to be pressed twice to paste objects

G’day everyone,

Ever since using R8, to paste objects between instances of Rhino the system requires two presses of ctrl+V to actually paste the objects. Clearly not a major issue but starting to get annoying.

Is there some weird setting I’m missing to solve this problem or is this a known issue that needs developer time?

It’s not a dodgy keyboard, it isn’t a miss-hit of the keys.

cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick -

It’s not something that I seen on my systems and I don’t recall having had other reports of this.

When you now run Rhino 7 on that machine, that still works with a single ctrl+v?
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the output here.
-wim

Rhino 7 is fine. Testing again with Rhino 8 and double ctrl+V is required to paste.

The latest update for R8 is being installed now.

I don’t see anyone else reporting that…could something weird have happened to the Ctrl+V shortcut macro?

I’m gonna guess your keyboard is dying.

Does it have to be an immediate repeat of ctrl-v or does the second one work regardless of how long you wait before pressing it?

Thanks for the help everyone.

I deleted ctrl+V keyboard shortcut a while ago because I paste a lot of points from excel. Ctrl+V shortcut was not allowing this functionality to work.

It isn’t the keyboard, crtl+V works perfectly in R7. Dare I say that the current pasting situation, for both objects and lists of points, is a regression in functionality from R6/7 and undesirable, so it should be fixed.

@jeremy5 … It needs to be “immediate”. If I flick between instances of R8, ctrl+V needs to be pressed twice again to enact the paste. But this is rare as I usually paste the objects I need straight away.

Hi Nick -

Yes, and based on user feedback, that issue was fixed in Rhino 8 → RH-69168 Added “Paste as plain text” to context menu of Command-line

Well…
It sounds like you need to put that default keyboard shortcut back in place.

If you delete it in Rhino 7 ctrl-V still pastes with a single press. Rhino 8 needs two. I believe that is the “regression” the OP is referring to.
