Using cross-section optimiser for shells under lateral loads, I was able to achieve the varying cross-section throughout the height of the building. But it can be identified by only the colour-coding in shell view cross-section output. But only a single initial cross-section name tag appears in model view, which doesnt make sense. What should I be doing to get the optimised cross-section name tages in model view corresponding to varying cross-sections in shell view so that I can distinctively extract the core wall thicknesses. (Rhino and GH files attached)
The dis-assemble cross-section component is not showing the cross-section properties of RC shell, like Areas and moment of inertias
The Model View only displays the starting cross section size for shells (even it is changed in the optimisation). You will need the ShellView component to see the correct thicknesses. The disassemble Cross Section after the disassemble Element shows you the cross section thicknesses after the optimisation.
Hello @kumaraguruselvakumar,
regarding the missing values of shell cross sections that are disassembled: for shells one would have to refer to a strip of with e.g. 1m to specify the area A and moment of inertia Iyy. Otherwise the physical units shown at the output plugs would be wrong - also Izz and Ipp make only sense for beams.
This and the fact that A and Iyy (=b*h^3/12) for shells are easy to calculate by hand led to the decision to not output any values when disassembling the cross section.
But maybe this should be changed - I will add that to the feature requests.
