I’m new to using Rhino, and for one of my projects, I need to create a container which incorporates a joint and hinge. My question is; how can I create the joint & hinge pictured below?

you will need to start off with curves, in fact you could do all this with curves if you are going to laser cut these and create a physical model. The top image is a technique called ‘kerfing’, I did something similar years back, all linework was done in Rhino and then sent to a laser cutter in the relevant file format. Look for Rhino tutorails for creating profile curves, patterns etc etc. Kerfing examples have a peek at the link below
