Creating a Material to Emulate A Shadow Screen

Hi There,
I’m looking to model the effect of putting a white screen in front of a shadow lantern. So the screen will show the shadow created by a point light, in the centre of the lantern (easy enough to do). But what I want to do is create a material that is translucent, like a piece of fabric, so that the light and shadows reaching the front of the material will show on the back side as well.

Here is an image of me not achieving this with a PBR - i can change the opacity of the screen (and see the shadows on the ground behind it), but the light/shadow won’t transfer through it.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Let me refine my query. I realized that i’ve been trying to do this in the rendered viewport. It does indeed do this in Cycles/Raytraced Viewport. However, for speed and flexibility, is there any way to do this in the rendered viewport?

I don’t think there is.
