Crashing when stopping render

I’m wondering if anyone may have some suggestions…

I have been trying to render a 4km2 site model… and Rhino has been crashing every time I have tried doing it above a particular level of resolution. I was watching my task manager and monitoring the level of memory being used. I had 16GB of RAM and was maxing out.

So I have bought more memory and am now up to 32GB working with my GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphics card. I have again tried rendering and am pleased to say that the crashing has basically stopped. So it seems that I simply didn’t have enough RAM as Rhino is now taking my RAM usage up to 18GB when trying to render.

But… I now have a different problem.

If whilst I am rendering I decide to stop it so that I can change settings… it crashes every time! Is this just a bug in the current version of Rhino v6??

Here is my system info:

Hello - what is the image size, in pixels, that you are rendering to?

-Pascal

Also, is this with Rhino Render (i.e. using the blue Render button, or the _Render command) ?

Image size is 14764x7707 at 150DPI - @ Good quality

Doing a top view render

using the side menu

Hm - that is a 325 MB image if I did my sums right. Pretty big… I’d suspect that sheers size first, but of course it should not crash.
