Crane - folding angle constraint

Hi,

I am looking to approximate a dome shape using a waterbomb tessellation. I can fold the pattern fine without constraints, however, once I try to constrain some of the outer vertices or fit to a surface, some of the folds appear to fold in the wrong direction creating odd shapes. I was hoping to use the ‘setfoldangles’ constraint but I cannot find any guidance only for this command and so far my attempts to use it have given very odd results.

Does anyone have an example of how this command should be used?

Can a range of values be set rather than one specific value?

Are there any better ways to control the folding?

Many thanks for any help

Don’t know if this will be too clumsy to read but this is my file.

Hi Maddie,

I’m using Crane 2021 version (I use Mac so I can’t download the latest).
I was wondering if you ever figured out the ‘setfoldangles’ command. I can’t figure out why the solver accepts the data for some edges but for others it returns an “index out of range” error.
