Converting multiple lines in a curve into less lines?

hello, I’m newer to programming and am a little unfamiliar with the process of this.
say for example i download a cutout template online and import it into rhino and after the piece is exploded there are hundreds of little lines that make up the curve. how do it make it so these hundreds of lines come together so when the piece is exploded it is less lines that make up the shape?
