Constraints - parallel lines distance dimension?

How do I set a distance dimension for two parallel lines?

I’ve tried with a rotated dimension perpendicular to a helping line but couldn’t really get it to work. The orientation of the rotated dimension does not update correctly.

How is that supposed to be done?

There is an Offset constraint that should do what you want

Offset… of course. I must still do something wrong. Either I can’t add the offset constraint because of a conflict or the constraint is added and my four segment polyline goes into some sort of a self intersecting Z shape.
