Conic Tool - problem

When I try to use the Conic tool, it asks me to select a curve. I have Rhino 5. Everything else fine. I have used this tool previously. I did a search on this forum, didn’t find anything. Any ideas? Thanks

Conic works as expected here. Can you inser your CommandHistory here?

You are using conic command with tangent options. This option requires a curve to be tangent to.
What if you (left-)click this icon (or just type Conic)?

I don’t type it I select the tool, this happens both left and right mouse click. Is this some sort of setting then? I’ve only ever used the conic from the toolbar.

You have to left-click the left icon. Looks like you are using the right (with tangent option). Or just pick Curve -> Conic.

No it is doing the same for both icons. It’s working for the Curve, Conic selection. But why are the icons like this? How can I change it from defaulting to the tangent option?

Regular Conic icon is missing on this side toolbar. You need to cascade “Curve” (left top on your image) to get full “Curve” creation toolset (the one I posted above).

Shift-right-click the icon (Edit function) and send us what you can see there.

oh wow!

Can I get that regular conic icon/button on my toolbar instead from here? Do I have a non-standard arrangement on my toolbar? Thank you

In this case you have to edit the icon. A bit dangerous:

You hover the pointer over the icon, and press Shift key. It gives you two options: left-click - Move, and right-click - Edit. While holding Shift you right-click the icon, you’ll get the button editor like so:

Enter the same values, and save.

Sure. One option is to ctrl-left-click the proper icon from Curve toolset (Copy). Then shift-left-click-and-hold created copy to Move it to the sidebar, where you want it. If you move an icon outside a toolbar you can also delete it (if you don’t need the conic-with-tangent-option icon). Is it working for you?

I would rather copy an icon than edit existing one which has a meaningful image…

Thank you very much, I feel like I’ve learned a lot of good things here!! I copied and moved as in order to avoid danger!! Now it’s perfect. I really appreciate your help.
