So I am hoping to start a set of case studies here; let this be the first one.
The client requested a parametric roof design for a sports complex already built in Revit, and the key requirement was to provide a convincing streamline appearance, not just some mesh.
I found a real-life project that resembles the desired look the most. It was the Savill Building by BURO HAPPHOLD:
I started with recreating this reference using the original wood joints grid structure and the same logic of the main supports around the perimeter.
After I came up with the desired roof surface shape, I created variations for grid density and orientation, and supports numbers, placement and offset.
After that, I translated Grasshopper definition outputs to Revit via Rhino.Inside.Revit as a reference for BIM elements placement.
As the stage of the project was only conceptual, I did a few AI renderings for presentation
