Computer prices dropped in 2022

I am going to do lots renderings this year, and I will need more powerful GPU than Quadro K2000M (part of my 9-year-old ThinkPad W530). One option is buying new laptop. (ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 had big cooling system with plethora of heat pipes, but it throttled to 20% under full load.)

If you have the option of using a desktop, I would highly recommend that for rendering. Laptop GPUs have come a long way, but they still operate at a fraction of the wattage of their desktop equivalents. I went from a 960M laptop GPU to a 3080 desktop, and I can tell you it’s life changing for rendering.
