Computer Build Question

@pascal which of these two processing options would perform better with Rhino?

The Intel Core i9-14900K and i9-14900KF are both powerful processors, but let’s compare them:

  • Core i9-14900K:

  • Base Clock: 2.6 GHz

  • Turbo Boost: Up to 5.7 GHz (average)

  • Effective Speed: 131% (gaming)

  • Memory Latency: 83.9 Pts

  • Market Share: 0.51%

  • Price: $505

  • Core i9-14900KF:

  • Base Clock: 3.2 GHz

  • Turbo Boost: Up to 4.1 GHz (average)

  • Effective Speed: 130% (gaming)

  • Memory Latency: 94.2 Pts

  • Market Share: 0.97%

Unfortunately your data are incorrect. the 14900K and 14900KF are almost identical Raptor Lake processors, with matching CPU specifications. Other than the 14900KS, there is no consumer/desktop CPU in the Intel lineup that can outperform these CPUs. The only difference between the two is that the 14900KF has no iGPU. For Rhino, this will make zero difference, as you should not use an iGPU with Rhino.

You are also probably not best off investing in a dead LGA1700 platform. AMD offer equally powerful CPUs (now 7950X, and in July, the 9950X), or you can wait a couple of months to see if Intel’s Arrow Lake brings anything more performant or efficient.

Thanks for the help!
