Component compatibility with GhPython.gha

Hello @sebastian.lindholm,

Up to the version 1.4 of Tekla Grasshopper Component GhPython.gha should have been disabled or removed to avoid component crashes. In the version 1.5 there is no such requirement in the release notes. Were there any updates on this, and the component is stable now with GhPython.gha not being disabled now?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Sergey

Hi, the release notes compound i.e. the status is still the same in 1.5.

That is: Tekla Structures 2024 + Rhino 8.6 or newer doesn’t require you to remove GhPython.gha. Using Rhino 7 is also fine. But in Rhino 8 combined with older Tekla versions you’ll get the popup prompting you to allow the file to be disabled.

GhPython.gha powers the Python scripting component in Rhino 7. In Rhino 8 this component has been replaced by the new Script component, and it seems the python stuff is working without GhPython.gha. So if you’re not using the now obsolete Rhino 7 python scripting component in any definition you should be good without it in Rhino 8.

Cheers,

Thank you for the prompt reply! I have Tekla 2023 at the moment, Rhino 8.11. Thank you for the tip for Tekla 2024 and newer - perhaps, this will be the easiest workaround for the future. Though, I could not do it at the moment for the ongoing projects. In general, this is what stops me from doing anything on Python for GH, that later on it could conflict with Tekla Component.
For old Python components - agree, just was trying to take a look into Synapse example (where old Python components were in use) and got the notification for GhPython. But before I was trying with FunBIM (as RhinoInsideRevit lacks reinforcement at all), the notification for GhPython script came when it was disabled. It was written on Python.

Yeah It seems the funBIM components are indeed just rebranded python components for Rhino 7. The code would need to be copied to Rhino 8 scripting components to be independent of GHPython.gha.
