Command Editor Window

Is this just a problem with my system. or is the interface for the command editor slow? In my case I get the beach ball running for over 2 minutes after typing in a search phrase, and it also takes an unusually long time just for the window to load initially. Is there some corruption issue I need to remedy on my machine?

I saw this happen recently on an older Mac. Please post your Rhino information from the About Rhinoceros > More info dialog.

I tried the Commands window on my development Mac, a recent MacBook Pro, and my slowest Mac, which is a 2008 laptop running 10.7.5. It takes about 3 seconds on my development laptop for all the command icons to appear.

It takes about 20 seconds for all the command icons to appear on the slow Mac. Using the search field takes about 5 seconds for each character typed. I never saw a delay anywhere close to 2 minutes. What specifically did you type in the search field to cause a 2 minute delay?

I don’t recall exactly, but I used an app called ‘cocktail’ to clear caches and do general maintenance on the drives and the performance improved. I think my mac is an early 2009 model. 20 seconds sounds about right at this point.

It is extremely slow. Has always been.
Whether running on a 2012 MBP with 16GB and SSD, or on my 2012 iMac i5.

The “Autofill” for the commands is written in such a way that there is a 500 ms delay between almost any operation, sometimes less, never more. So even tabbing between fields is painfully slow.

Took me 3 hours to build my custom menu shortcuts up from my notes from my Windows installs. Just waiting… for it too accept my input and RESPOND.

Please test this on lesser systems! There should be no perceptible delay in loading icons, searching commands, anything ! We’re only talking of hundreds of Commands, not Billions!
