So, we are still trying to determine how to create this. When it happens are there multiple Rhino applications open?
I cannot answer definitively. I will pay more attention to the details the next time it happens.
Reading these posts. I had the exact same thing happen testing Rhino 8. It would be working just fine. Then quite a few times when trying to close Rhino 8. It would completely lock up my computer. No functions would work. Could not even shut down the correct way. Had to do a hard boot. I am absolutely amazed what Rhino 7 does. It is one of my best programs. So I hope these little functionality problems in Rhino 8 get worked out. Thanks for all your hard work Rhino team.

Please run SystemInfo in the Rhino 8 command line and post the results.
When Rhino is locked please create a dmp file and send to us per these instructions.

Another thing that might provide a clue is looking at the Details of the Event in the Windows Reliability Monitor.

@scottd Rhino just locked up. Sending .DMP file.
I opened and was using Rhino to look at file from this thread: Why can't this surface be extended?
Switched to using Chrome to look at various websites including You Tube on the computer without closing Rhino.
Later a “pop-up” appeared in lower right corner of the screen for the Rhino session.
Either clicked on the “pop-up” to either directly close Rhino -or- clicked on the “pop-up” to make Rhino full screen and then immediately clicked to close Rhino.
Rhino became full screen. The “Save changes to” dialog box MAY have briefly appeared.
Rhino then locked up. Cannot close and cannot minimize.
All other apps appear to be working correctly.
Created .DMP file, created this post, and submitted .DMP file.
Rhino still locked.

Clicked on Rhino screen to close and no longer locked. The “Save changes to” dialog box appeared.

System info for my system after closing Rhino as discussed in post above, and then reopening it.
Added: When closing Rhino after running SystemInfo the notification that an update was ready to install appeared.
