Closed Solid Polysurface vs Closed Polysurface

Is there a difference between a closed polysurface and a closed solid polysurface? My professor created a closed polysurface in one of his tutorials and when he places a clipping plane the interior surfaces are exposed. When I use the same box command a closed solid polysurface is created and when I insert a clipping plane my object appears to be capped.

No. However, there are settings in the display modes that determine whether to show clipping plane ‘fills’ or not.
