CloseCrv is simplistic

As far as I remember, 0% of my curves are straight. (All my straight lines are temporary.) Sometimes I want to close open streamlined curve. My problem is that when I use the CloseCrv command, the closed curve is no longer streamlined, so I have to redraw the entire curve. The CloseCrv command should have curved (streamlined) option.

?

What does this mean? Pardon my ignorance haha

Did you try blendcrv ? You can blend the curve with itself and choose from options beyond straight line. This probably isn’t what you’re referring to, though.

But yes this would be nice similar to the ‘connect’ component in grasshopper.

No. I wasn’t that smart. The BlendCrv worked well when I set its BlendStart option to CurveEnd and its continuity to G4. I still believe that the CloseCrv should have the same continuity options as the BlendCrv. (I am experienced Rhino user, and I did not know this trick.)

I can’t blame you - I remember discovering the option accidentally - the command (blendcrv) is counterintuitive, in my opinion, when dealing with single curves.

there are a few different methods to close curves “streamlined”, none would be as initial as BlendCrv, but the downside of BlendCrv is that you would have to join these curves, for whatever reason you might have if that is not an option then you could use

1
ContinueInterpCrv or ContinueCurve, which does the same just control point style both with a periodic single curve result.

2
you of also have the command match, but here it depends on where you start, on side will always be skewed from its initial shape.

3
finally (i guess) you also have the command MakePeriodic, but that tends to mess up the curve even more, depending on how complex it might be i guess.

ContinueInterpCrv and ContinueCurve work well.

You do know that Connect also works
(yes, you can click on both ends of the same curve).

However, it will not close a curve and make it G1+ continuous/periodic, there will still be a kink at the close point.
