I’m having two issues with clipping drawings, firstly the background is misaligned from the cut, making the drawing unusable. Secondly, all lines exported are on the same layer called Curves. Is it possible to have them as separate layers as you can do with Make 2D?
Finally, I am just wondering if there is a way to clip a section view. I am taking a section through a house in a wider landscape, and when I select the terrain to appear in the section it shows the entire landscape and so extends 1km either side, which isn’t needed. Is it possible to limit the width of the section?
It’s impossible to know what’s going on here from an image. Please post a 3dm file that can be used for troubleshooting.
I found this earlier answer to that question:
It looks like, for the time being, your options are to either make a static copy of all curves and put these on separate layers, or use different clipping planes that clip geometry selectively (include or exclude layers). You’ll then get Curves layers with dynamic content for the different layers or objects.
That’s not currently possible and would require something like jogged clipping lines (RH-69117). For the time being, you’ll need to create a copy of the larger landscape and trim that the smaller extents around the house.

Hi @wim and @rajaa
I noticed this bug too:
Background curves are offset
This is quite a blocker: Clipping Drawings are unusable when background is needed.
Tested both:
Version 8 SR13
(8.13.24282.10001, 2024-10-08)
&
Work In Progress
(9.0.24282.12305, 2024-10-08)
please find an example file + video and screenshot at this link
try to repeat on your side:
Open Blank design
Place a sphere at origin
place a Clipping section in X direction @ origin
place a clipping drawing
edit clipping drawings and change AddBackground from No to Yes
background curves are created BUT with some offset
Also, curves are not precise, some contour are missing.
On the same folder there is also another test file Clipping sections - background offset.3dm where you can see solid/surfaces are not dealed correctly when creating drawings.
