Clipping plane "bug" or limitation

There are 50+ entries for clipping plane in youtrack, so maybe this is already in there…

I’m looking to control visibility of a clipping plane in a particular viewport. I’m sure this is an enhancement request already, logically a “Views visible” list could go in the Properties panel along with the existing “Views clipped” list. Until that happens, I can turn off clipping planes via display mode for the viewport I want.

However, if I turn off clipping plane visibility in a viewport that way, when I select it in another view where it is visible, I get the Gumball showing up in the viewport where the clip plane is hidden - whether that’s considered a bug is up for discussion, but somehow if you’re trying to avoid seeing the plane it’s annoying…

The second thing that happens is that when you’re moving the clipping plane, in the viewport that has the display mode where clipping planes are not shown, it shows up anyway as a ghost while you’re moving it… The “ghost” also doesn’t move with the plane, it updates afterwards, so this is some kind of display “artifact”…

Quick video…

I know there are already tons of suggestions for clipping plane improvement for V6, so I’ll wait and see which ones get implemented and how before asking for more…
