This “chat button” suddenly appeared out of nowhere, in the
Windoze- and as well in the macOS version.
What is this? Does anyone know?

Nope, newest McNeel support tool. If it’s active, then there is someone from McNeel tech support online ready to chat. If not it sends an e-mail to McNeel tech support. Not malware, and not a chat robot either. Real actual people.

I did not knowingly install or update anything.
So, McNeel can now remotely update my menus??
Also, who would put a “What other 3D software have you used?”
in a support email form?

Recent Rhino service releases install it. It can be considered to be part of Rhino.
BTW, I’m not seeing that button here in my current installs… Did it get removed? Guess so.

This is still somewhat of a test and that tool button has been taken out again in the latest in-house 8.20 release. That’s not to say it won’t come back at some point…
