Changing texture parameters reduces picture's resolution

When I import Picture and make it grayscale or change gamma, it loses quality: edges get blurry, lines get dithered. See below with the original Picture on the left and a copy made grayscale on the right:

Any ideas why? 3dm & systeminfo attached.

Hi TomasT,

How are you copying the image exactly?

is this the highest OS your machine can run? (Apple macOS Version 13.7.8)

Lets run the Reset Command, go back to factory if its not too much of a bother.

Hi Japhy.

Thank you for looking into this. Yes, that is the max OS I can get. I tried dragging from desktop and using _Picture command. Both seem to deliver the same results. This problem does not occur all the time, but I cannot seem to troubleshoot when it does. I tried adding images when many other programs are opened and RAM is lacking, I tried different images, I tried importing them at different sizes, etc.

The only more reliable pattern seems to be that square images often do not get this problem, but narrow and tall or short and long images do. Maybe this is somehow linked to aspect ratio?
