Changing Resolution in Layouts

Hi, I was wondering if it’s possible to increase the image resolution of the detail view in my layout. The view is set to rendered mode with some materials applied, and I’ve added a line overlay on top of it. There are a few pixels that slightly extend beyond the line overlay—it’s subtle, but I’d like to clean it up if possible.

Unless I’m missing something, the image resolution is set in the print dialog. No?

Hi Martin, I might be incorrect but when in the print dialog, the only solution I found to change the resolution was to edit the dpi from the layout tab from the default 1200 to 4000. I only recently started using layouts as I would usually print by using window-set.

Hi Adam -

I don’t quite understand the part with pixels extending, but, perhaps, increasing the line width might do the trick?

Hi Wim,
I realize I didn’t explain it very clearly earlier. What I’ve done is set the detail view to “Rendered” mode, which includes shadows. Then, directly in the layout tabs, I overlaid linework so that the lines can be exported as vector, while the rendered view remains raster. As long as the line-weights aren’t rasterized, I’m not too concerned.

Regarding the few pixels that appear to slightly extend beyond the line overlay, it seems to be related to the shadowing. Adjusting the DPI values in the Adobe print dialogue helps minimize this. It’s a very subtle issue—nothing noticeable at a glance—just something I came across while tidying up stray curves during the switch between Acrobat and Rhino.
