"Carve" into solid

Okay I’m getting stumped on this, I have a box that I want to have lettering carved into it but not all the way but rather like .25" into the box. How can I do this?

Hi Mike - Make the letters as solids a little taller than the .25 and embed them into the box by .25 (with a bit sticking out) then BooleanDifference the letters from the box - does that get what you’re after?

I’ve also used WireCut to help achieve this effect. (:

You can also just use your text command and create solids then boolean difference them out. Should work for any font on your system.
