Can't Set Base and Top Levels Of Columns Using Add Component By Location

I’m using Add Component by location to place columns in a Revit model. I can adjust the base and top offset but I get an error when I try to change the levels that base and top are set to. I get the following error. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

“1. RhinoInside.Revit.GH: Failed to assign an element from a diferent document.
Parameter name: Base Level”

p.s. I can’t use the curve based column component because I need to see the alignment of the columns using planes… unless there is someway to rotate the columns after they are placed…?

Can you put together a small example file?

Rotating the planes on placement perhaps?

hello there, I am trying to do a similar thing, but in my case it is applying material to a custom family (generic model) placed with Add Component by Location. Think we must have a very similar problem…
