Can't get out of block editing

U N L O C K.

Would have never guessed that the desired command didn’t include the word “block” somewhere in it. Thank you!

Hi, same thing just happened to me I was able to fix it by selecting all the objects of the block while being stuck in block editing mode and using the command “block” to make it a block again with a different name. Then use the command “unlock” to get out of the block editing mode, and I was able to double click on the block (or use “blockedit”) and the block edit window popped right back up.

I have found that “unlock” explodes the block so Prerita’s idea may be the best workaround.

Hello- can you please run SystemInfo in Rhino and post the results here?

Sorry for the delay! RH just updated, so this is the most recent sysInfo:

-My blocks did not explode w/ UNLOCK.

That’s encouraging. I haven’t had the exitless-blockedit issue for almost 6 months though I use blocks frequently in my long workdays, so maybe the problen has become less acute.

I am experiencing this problem with Rhino.Inside Revit. Every time I open a block (well I have only tested with one block, but it happens reliably every time), the window does not appear, and I cannot exit blockedit mode. Unlock does not work for me, nor does testresetwindowposition.

Also having this problem in latest update as of today

Hej Morten -

This thread was started in 2014 and it looks like several things have been reported.
Could you (1) describe the problem and the steps it takes to reproduce it, and (2) run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result?
-wim

Hello! Very long thread so I don’t know if this was brought up, but I ended up finding the block editing interface on my second monitor, but since the monitor was turned off I didn’t think to check on it (the PC still detects the screen and acts like it’s being used, so windows can be put on it.) I turned on the monitor and dragged the window back to my main screen.

None of us have figured out 1). And as to 2) Viridis 3D posted that above on March 8th.

I wish that were the case when I get the issue (which has become quite a bit rarer for me). The window can’t be found on either of my monitors

I know this was mentioned in the Rhino for Windows section, but I had a similar issue with Rhino for Mac. Same story, was editing a block, dragged the BlockEdit window from one monitor to another and the little window disappeared.

What eventually fixed it for me was rightclicking the Rhino icon in the dock and under options, assign the window to a specific monitor. It was set to “none” somehow…

Hope this helps someone!

Hi,
I had the same problem where my block editor dialog disappeared leaving everything except block contents locked.
I selected all unlocked objects available and hit block command. Then created another block. Then double clicked to get into its block editor and the dialog box appeared again. Then, I hit Unlock and I got back to the original state with everything unlocked and in their block instances state.

I dont know exactly how it worked but it did for me.

Hope this helps!

Thanks

Happens all the time and it’s super annoying but what Hardik suggested worked for me on a mac.

This command no longer works in rhino8
