Cannot export mesh as SAT

Hi there,

I’m trying to export a mesh I created in Grasshopper (which I baked into Rhino) as an SAT so I can load it into Revit. However I keep getting an error saying “meshes cannot be exported to ACIS SAT files and will be skipped,” and then it fails to save.

Is there a way to get around this?

Thanks so much!

Hi @user1069
I think it’s as simple as SAT export not supporting meshes in Rhino - just like the dialog box says. You’ll have to use another file format - obj, stl, dxf etc. Why it doesn’t support meshes, I don’t know.

Hi -

Do you have Revit and Rhino on the same machine?
If so, you could use Rhino.Inside Revit to get your file across.

Got it, thank you! I will try using a different file format.

Yes, I have them both on the same machine. Thank you for this! I will give it a try as well.

You can test your file by importing via Direct Shape. If there are edges that Revit can’t handle it will try to fix and import as well as give a visual location of the problem errors in Preview.
