Cannot delete a piece name in properties

I used to be able to select a bunch of objects then hit delete in the Name box in the properties dialogue.
This was very handy if I screwed up a bunch of sequential naming and had to rest everything to no name.
Now I can only replace the name.

Loving V8 by the way. Especially the new Shrinkwrap and Quadremesh workflow

Interesting. Backspace key works but not delete key.
Maybe something screwy with my keyboard? It seems to be behaving otherwise.
