Hi all, I wonder if we can input both Brep and Crv to New Component Family together and create a component family? Or this component can only accept Breps not Crvs?
@Jack_Zeng if you use curve directly in New component family it will will convert that curve as Model Line which can be visibile in 3d view. but if you use Component Family curve, then you have a freedom to jump between Model Lines and Symbolic Lines. Further using the constrcut visibility component you can set the different settings for these line.
If I am inside the family I can Add and edit 3D Breps with the “add form”, but is there a way to Add lines? (not as directshape, se they can not be edited or made invisible)
Change all the elements you want to modify, then load them back into Revit.
Don’t overwrite through the component, RIR tracks every element and attempts to match curves from the source geometry, which can cause conflicts.
The only way to add lines is through the Component Family Curve.
Let´s take this simple example: I create this family using the circle as curve.
In revit I open the new family and add some parameters and create other volumes.
Later, I need to chage that curve or add new curves to that family already created. Can I?
If I go inside the family, I can not import curves. If I create the family with no overwritte, it does nothing. If I do Overwritte, I would delete all the “manual” edit that I did in revit.
So how can I add Curves from Rh/Gh to a family that already exist? @Japhy is there any component? Or there is just no way, just directshapes, or only at the family creation?
Once overwrite is false you have to manually open the family makes the changes and load it back to revit.
There is a lot going on in this component, it tracks everything you create. so that best option is once you create the family just disconnect it from the Family component. If you want to import new curves just open the family manually, fire up grasshopper and simply create the curves using detail lines or model line components.
Did you try and managed to make “detail line” work? If not, and it doesn´t really work, I will just post his image as clarification for people who later would search this topic.
Detail line component doesn’t work in Generics Family. It can only be used in detail element related Families. You have to rely on symbolic or model lines in Generic families.
