The perspecktive with lines in technical viewport is so good: no extra lines, no missing lines, so neat and right. “Make2d” just always works bad, with so many mistakes which is a huge workload to fix. I can’t help wondering, why can’t “make2d” just use the result of the technical viewport? For us now, is there a way to get the vector 2D lines of the perspective of technical viewport?
Hi -
We will need specific 3dm example models to be able to fix issues with the Make2D
command.

User 2814 isn’t the only one to comment on the quality of Make2d over the years. Your answer seems to imply that you (and presumably McNeel) regard Make2d as different from tech viewport. While it’s always useful to see specific examples of disappointing results, I think you have avoided the OP’s line of inquiry: “Is there a way to retrieve the 2D vectors from tech viewport?” and his implied question: “Why can’t Make2d use the same code as tech viewport?”.
I assume there is an explanation for the 2nd question and I’d be curious to hear it.
No, they’re not actually vectors, they’re more like…modified shadows?
As for this part:
The result of the technical viewport is nothing more than what you see on screen - a bunch of pixels. There is no vector information in there that can be used.

It would be an interesting exercise to use the Vectorize plugin to convert a screen grab from a Technical viewport, then overlay that on a Make2D of the exact same view. As I understand it, the accuracy from Technical may not be perfect, but in a perspective view at least, that would be pretty much a matter of personal taste.
