Calculation Method for VisualARQ Wall Area?

Hello VisualARQ group!

Curious if anyone has any insight on the way in which are is calculated from a VisualARQ wall.

When I have a stand alone wall, the area attribute within it calculates the surface area of the wall correctly. A 12’x20’ wall give me an area of 240sf as expected.

When I place a cutting element, in this case a 6’x9’ window, the area calculates correctly giving me an area of 186sf (240sf-54sf)

When I have walls joining the one I want to get the area from, the calculation breaks down. I expect to get 186sf like before, but I get less: 176.4sf. Any insight as to how this number is being calculated?

I’m running VisualARQ version 2.12.5.16169 on Rhino 7.18.22124.03001

Hi @steve.danilowicz,

When the wall is connected to other walls, it is taking the area between the central axis of the connected walls:

Anyway, I think it should calculate the area in the same way as if it had not connected walls (this way you would get the same area in the second and third case), so I will report this as a change for future versions.
