I input a sun vector and an object from rhino in Mesh Shadow to cast a shadow on another object. Is there a way to calculate the surface area of the second object that is in the shadow? I have only managed to calculate the surface area of the shadow on the ground.
This is what I have managed to do aleady. I want to have another object behind the one you placed and calculate its shaded surface area. So, the shadow is on another object, not on the plane.
Too bad you didn’t bother to follow the recommended guidelines, either in your original post or especially now, to include a GH file illustrating the issue.
If the object is a flat plane it should not be difficult. If the object is a complex 3D form it may be impossible. If the object is a simple 3D form it may be done with difficulty - lesser if you have a set object, greater if you want to cater for different objects.
Without knowing more about the shadowed object we don’t know how much effort is involved and are therefore unlikely to want to donate our time to your problem… Try and see it from our point of view.
