Cage Edit seems to accept control points as input objects, but then when you’re done setting things up and want to start making adjustments, depending on how you set things up you either get “unable to update captive object” or you actually get a preview of the change you want, but when you release you get a popup saying “Dragging released 1 object from its cage” and the change reverts.
Why is this?
Is Cage Edit supposed to be able to take control points as input and if so, what’s the trick to using it? It seems very restrictive right now.
Ok, tried again and this time I can get it to work once (and that makes it throw a history error which releases the cage). So, that’s because the caged object had history before I ran that command…
…which in turn makes me think that the sub-object I used to create a cage with in the first place before also had history on it and that’s why I saw that weird behavior.
When I make sure nothing has history before I begin the Cage Edit it does seem to work, which is very neat!
