When I open a new file, the default template’s name is initially in the filename field, but most of the left side of the template’s name is cut off.
This was also noted in 2018. I’ve never noticed it before, though. So I wonder if it was fixed but has somehow resurfaced recently (or have I seriously just never noticed it before?)
I didn’t personally set it, but I just checked, and it is set to the correct template there. I assume Rhino figured it out on its own as it’s the only template I use.
And perhaps I should clarify…
The correct template is pre-filled into the “File Name” text box, it’s just that I can only see the last little bit of it. If I click “Open”, it opens the correct template…it’s just that I no longer have visual confirmation of which template is going to open since I can only see “Millimeters.3dm”.
If I click in the text field and press Home, which I did in my little video, the full name becomes visible. Also, you might notice in the video, the text is highlighted, as though I had selected it to edit it for some reason (which I did not).
I hope that’s helpful. It’s not a major bug, it doesn’t break anything. It’s just a very slight UI annoyance as I find myself for a moment wondering which template it is trying to open and then clicking on the one I want. I did that several times before I realized it does actually have the correct template pre-filled in the text field, I just can’t see it.
OK. I tried that (removing the default and restarting). And, yes, as long as I don’t set a default template, it doesn’t pre-fill the File Name field, which does get around the problem in a way. But, if I then set a default template, upon opening a new file, the file explorer window pre-fills the File Name field, selects the text for some reason and then seemingly moves the cursor to the end of the selected text so that I can only see “Millimeters.3dm.”
Not a huge deal. I guess I’ll have to decide if I want to work with or without a default template.
