The translucency of one box has an impact on the translucency of the shading of other boxes:

This may be a bug. The Rhino version is 8.18.
By the way, transparent objects does not cast shadows. Is this normal?

Hi 454 -

I’ve added this thread and some notes to RH-85094 Transparency decreases shadows on ground plane in Monochrome mode

The display mode has a setting for this that you can adjust: [Display_Mode] -> Shadows -> Transparent Objects. You can move this slider to “Always cast shadows”.
Apart from that, there’s an open ticket about this: RH-69192 Display: Arctic transparency

Hi Wim,
Thanks for your hard work.
One more thing, I think that objects with different transparencies casting shadow with the identical transparencies is good idea.

Hi 454 -

A quick check tells me that’s not how that works in reality, though…

Hi Wim,
I agree with you if I am doing real-time Rendering work.
But if I am modeling one building,I do not care about how real it must be.“Less is more” is truth for architect.
Rhino developers never think like architects for thousands of years. So you are not blamed if this condition continues.
