I am puzzled why teh SETPT command does not have three text boxes that enable and disable when you click the X/Y/Z buttons, rather than have to click OK and then enter the values (and remembering what you selected).
That said, it shouldn’t the text box for entering the SETPT values gain focus after clicking OK, rather than having to click on the text box?
(windows user here so don’t know if the mac version is different)
This shoul be put in a “wish” instead of a “bug” thread.
I agree that could be a good idea to give the position you want from the Cplane or World directly in the Setpt dialog instead of entering it from the command bar or clicking in the model.
I usually set X, Y and/or Z in SetPt by snapping to a location on an object, not by entering coordinates, when location is requested. How would that work with input directly into the dialog panel?
I agree that this is a wish or request, not a bug. A bug is when the code does not work as intended. SetPt works as intended.
At the beginning I was wondering the same as you said… after that I gave a try to the command: when you set only one coordinate (lets say Z) and you click OK, giving a numeber is the coordinate referred to the selected plane (Cplane or World).
Imho this is very useful ‘cause if you want to take all the points at the same height you can do without snapping to an existing point.
The problem is when you select more than one coordinate and Rhino don’t understand the value inserted until you write it as a point coordinate (x,y,z) or snap to an existing entity.
Obviously this has to be an option, the command should be able to work in both mode (snapping a point or giving a value).
If you type in a coordinate triplet SetPt uses the relevent coordinate, as if you had snapped to a point with those coordinates.
If you are only setting one coordinate in SetPt then there is the option to only type in one coordinate and set SetPt will use it.
An option to directly enter individual coordinates the dialog panel would be useful, as long as it does not interfere with setting coordinates by snapping.
The wish is to have seperate input windows as depicted.
The bug is, in the absense of such a feature, input focus should shift to the input text block without having to click on it.
I note that the IMPORT command is similar in that focus does not go back to the command box. After you do the import command, you have to clock the text box to do the next command.
