BUG: Set CPlane origin > Elevation rotates the plane

This bug was present since many years with older Rhino versions and only happened on rare occasions, but recently it really started to get too disturbing as basically half of the '_CPlane _Elevation command on my Rhino 7 end up destroying the original orientation of the current CPlane and instead rotate it at 90 degrees in a random direction. The one solution I’m forced to use is to build a plane object in the center of the Cplane, then move it vertically at the desired distance, then run the '_CPlane _Object command, then delete the plane object, but this is slow and requires more mouse clicks.
I run the latest Rhino 7 SR16 (7.16.22039.15001, 2022-02-08) Commercial.

Here is a video showing the bug in its full glory:

Hi Bobi - thanks, I’ll test.
No luck here - can you send us an example file to tech@mcneel.com with a link back to this topic in your comments?

-Pascal

Hi Pascal, I just sent you a portion of the file on the e-mail you listed above. I will also post here the same text I wrote there:

How to achieve the bug:

  1. Open _-NamedCPlane _Visible _Visible _Toggle _Enter _Enter;

  2. Switch to the CPlane named “CPlane BUG”;

  3. Run the '_CPlane command and change the elevation of the CPlane. Everything should appear good at this moment;

  4. Switch to the default Cplane via the '_CPlane _World _Top command;

  5. Switch again to the CPlane named “CPlane BUG”;

  6. Run the '_CPlane command and change the elevation of the CPlane.This time, however, the CPlane gets rotated to 90 degrees.
