Not able to use the app during time machine back-ups.
Slows to a halt.
This is not something I can reproduce on my Mac with Rhino 7 or Rhino 8. Let’s see if we can figure out what’s going wrong.
Let’s start with some system info. From Rhino, can you please run SystemInfo
and post that here?
You said “halts.” What exactly happens? Can you please describe the symptom in detail?
sysinfo.txt (5.2 KB)
When Rhino ‘halts’ it’s basically the spinning ball that keeps going. Even after I stop the back-up Rhino is in a spinning ball state and I have to force quit.
I have other issues too:
Copy and pasting objects take a very long time (spinning ball again).
And sometimes I am unable to do “undo”. Rhino simply does not remember undo unless I restart the software.
Current build is very unstable.
Can you please try disabling the Substance Importer plugin, restart Rhino, and see if you can still reproduce the issue?
This definitely improves things.
However the copy / paste command is stil very slow.
I wonder if you are experiencing the same behavior in Rhino 8.11.24254.15002…? If so, it will likely require us testing with your file.
It’s not specific to one file.
Could it have to do with the Adobe Substance materials?
I think that is, indeed, likely…given that avoiding loading of the plugin causes your lockups to go away.
If you create a new file while the Substance Importer is not loaded, then try Copy/Paste, is it still painfully slow?
It still might help us address the issue if we had a file that is causing problems. If we can reproduce it, even without the Substance Importer plugin loaded, we might be able to figure out a fix or better pinpoint the problem.
Hi Dan,
I just uploaded the file to your tech support.
Hope you can have a look at it.
