Bug ? Polysurface edge and render mesh

Hi,

On this simple shape it seems the render mesh fails to update when the edge is moved down ?
The side triangular face was made with Loft.
The problem does not exist if the face is extruded and trimmed. Is this the expected way to fill holes ?

Hi -

I see that here → RH-75742 MoveEdge: Messes up a untrimmed surface in a polysrf

Simply using Cap would be the fastest way, I suppose, but it should work with any method for surface creation, if you ask me.

I’ve changed the category for this thread as this isn’t an issue that is specific to any new feature in the WIP.

Ah yes, Cap of course… Sometimes I wonder if I’m not in the need of a basic Rhino training

The shape started with some Pushpull but indeed there is the same problem in R7. Thanks for the update.

Somehow it’s acting on that untrimmed surface as if it was a trimmed planar surface - so it ends up just pulling the edge out of tolerance rather than actually changing the underlying surface.

Note that this appears to be caused because of the singularity in the triangular surface. If I add a short vertical straight side so that it becomes a trapezoid, then moving the edge works correctly.

This is also one case where showing the isocurves for planar surfaces is handy, I had to go in and edit most of my display modes…
