Bug: Grasshopper files do not open with double click

before, If i am not completely delirious I was able to double click a grasshopper file and it opened Rhino automatically and opened in Grasshopper. now for quite a while i get the following error

~/Desktop/random_name.gh is not a Rhino m_archive.

i am using Version 8 (8.19.25105.15002, 2025-04-15) but this issue has started long before. to open it now i have to open grasshopper then click on the open file, then search for the file and open it.

thanks for letting me know, it seems that this one is on the plate for a while, idk issues like these make life really difficult, i am just leaning a bit out the window but it seems like a small bug? why not fix these on the spot rather than torturing people for a felt infinity..
