take a sphere maybe throw it into a red layer for better visibility, go to display modes shaded and set to 1% gloss. as seen below the gloss is so strong burning out the entire red.
below set to 99% gloss
should be the other way around

Hello - glossier = shinier, less diffuse, more specular…
-Pascal
that is the problem, the image above is not more diffuse it has a huge specular point due to a high glossniness value but the setting is set to 1 so that is a bug
Hello- if you want it to look more natural, set the gloss color to a lighter version of the diffuse color.
-Pascal
i can not set the color of the gloss if so that would make this more logic, and yes that is what a natural slight diffusion would look like, but here it just burns it out which does not look more diffused just more glossy.
i try to make it more clear.
0% gloss, entirely diffuse
1% gloss, entirely burned out
10% gloss,
100% gloss
I commented on this long ago as well IIRC - possibly even before this forum got started and it was still the old newsgroup. That’s just the way it seems to work… Back then I think I asked for some way that the highlight intensity would be automatically reduced as the gloss value got smaller, but looks like it’s still the same as it has been for a long, long time.
