Bug: focus issue after double click on layer to activate

i use a short cut for change object layer, when i preselect the object and double click on a layer i have to activate the command twice, the first time is ignored, when i double click first and then select the object the command works as expected.

ortho on off for instance works without issue

is there maybe something wrong with my macro? ! -ChangeLayer Enter Enter but i believe that worked before without having to initiate it twice

guys this is still an issue and is getting really bothersome, can somebody please confirm, log, fix?

when i activate the command the first time after i double click the layer the name flickers for a short moment so i assume its some focus issue.

nobody?

I’ll try and replicate in Rhino 8. What is your Rhino SystemInfo? Thanks

thanks @Japhy

here you go Untitled.txt (5.0 KB)

So far i am not able to repeat with your macro in Rhino 7 or 8.

!-ChangeLayer Enter Enter

  1. Select Object
  2. click to change layer
  3. run Alias shortcut

i used a shortcut under keyboard (alt y) any luck?

first Select Object
then double click new layer to activate new layer
then hit alt y

@Japhy i can confirm that it must be this specific shortcut which does not work, when i remap it to a different key it works again. can you confirm?

I get a ‘not a valid Rhino Command’ error when trying to use Option+Y (in the Aliases dialog, not keyboard)

that sounds like it was not hooked up properly, actually i had to switch from alt > to alt y because v8 stopped supporting it when you guys made the big changes

oh wait did you try the aliases? no i meant the shortcuts

I’m finding a few youtracks in this area, this fix was submitted an hr ago, which seems related.

RH-78732

There is also this one as well, which was also pushed.

RH-79643

i can not image that these are related, neither the first nor the second.
maybe there is a misunderstanding…

the command works but i have to activate it twice when using alt y that is the main issue, so it seems to be focus related. when i map a different short cut to it like ctrl y it works at the first instance.

Option+Y is working for me as expected.

is there maybe a relation here? i dont know why you seemt to get it to work, i am dealing with this issue for several months already.

maybe its language related since i am using austrian german in my general OS settings but have english active in Rhino. either way there is a bug so can please somebody have a look?

also how exactly do you use it? do you preselect an object then double click a new layer and hit alt y?

@Japhy

sorry for being so persistent but this is a very uncomfortable bug, did you update maybe and its working now?

This works fine for me, i will get a screen capture. Although occasionally it tries to generate a Yen symbol.

you did not answer any of my questions and the confusion keeps growing. i dont need a screen capture when it works for you i believe you, it does not work for me and i really need to find out why hope that makes sense?

The Option+Y appears to be the same as this issue mentioned in the thread per the youtracks.

I’m going to come back to this when the build is published with the fixes later today or tomorrow.

i believe not and i might have not managed to describe it accordingly to you.

@Gijs would you please be so kind and see if you are lucky if you can repeat it?
you might have different language settings (if that is in issue at all i mean) maybe its a better start?

I mapped ! _-ChangeLayer Enter Enter to Option+Y and that works as intended here in 8.6.24086.01002

edit: actually, I tried again in the order you mentioned and see that it prints a Yen symbol when Layers has focus
I guess that is what @Japhy sees too.
