Quite often a portion of the Curvature graph simply disappears, even when it’s not close to the camera. Here is the weird part. This particular bug only happens on viewports without ambient occlusion shadows. Any viewport that uses ambient occlusion shadows renders the Curvature graph properly.
Hopefully this bug in Rhino 7 could be resolved soon (it exists for years), because it’s really annoying and forces me to either look at the geometry from far distance (not good when I do car design and need to observe the geometry up close) or switch to a very limited number of custom viewports with ambient occlusion (meaning I can no longer use Wireframe mode, etc).
Hm - yeah… I think the immediate band-aid solution is to add one or two point objects to the scene to expand its bounding box,
Here, I’ve added a point below the surface but not above:
Adding or showing other objects of any kind that expand the scene should work but I’ll add this to the pile.
This appears to be fixed in V8 from what I can see so far.
Hi Pascal, is not it possible to Rhino 7 to interpret the Curvature graph’s band as an object in the 3d space, which it really is? After all, it has basically the same rendered look like the polylines. In my opinion, Rhino 7 must be smart enough to expand the common bounding box of the scene upon rendering new objects, be it 3d geometry or analysis lines.
As for your proposed solution, I often isolate single objects to work on them individually and having to build several extra points somewhere outside the reach of the Curvature graph’s band (in different directions to expand the bounding box, I suppose?) would force me to spend extra time for every isolate case.
In your example the single point only helped with the bottom left portion of the Curvature graph’s band, whereas the rest of it on the upper right corner is still partially hidden.
Hi Bobi - this is not fixed in V8 if the colors of thew graph are non-default. This seems to be the case in V7 as well - default graphs are not clipped but non default ones are… RH-77473 CurvatureGraph: clipping and colors
It’s pity that this particular bug will be probably left unresolved in Rhino 7… At least this is what I understand from looking at the report from your link: Release target: 8.x
