BUG: control points not visible with drawing order (in Wireframe)

this is what I see in Wireframe mode: (the hatch is set to “bring to Front”)

drawing order is generally only working in Wireframe mode, but I assume that is by design?
Actually I am not sure if that isthe ideal behavior, I would prefere to toggle it or have a toggle within the displaymodes.
