Bug blockmanager: "ERROR no geometry found" at copy/paste existing block

Hi There,

when I choose to replace a blockDefinition with inserted block, all block content disappears unexpectedly and the blockmanager states “ERROR, no geometry found”

  1. open two instances of Rhino3d
  2. insert Block TestBlock.3dm (133.2 KB)
    from file, use UpdateType ‘linked’ and LayerStyle ‘active’ in Rhino instance A
  3. insert Block instance TestBlock.3dm (133.2 KB)
    in Rhino instance B
  4. copy paste instance from A to B
  5. choose “replace with imported block”
    image
  6. content disappears

@dale, possibly it is related to this thread Block Manager -> ERROR No geometry found

Did I understand correctly this issue will not be solved in rhino7?

We use many blocks in our production models (Rhino7) and we are used to copying linked blocks from 1 file to another, e.g. in order to maintain relations to linked file locations.

Hopefully a fix will also be added to Rhino7.

I use copy+paste of block instances a lot in my production workflow. Do you have any idea when I can expect a solution?

Hi Tim - the bug list item looks like being next up for the developer - but, as far as I can see, V8.
